Each space is unique in its own way. Each space has its own quirks, beauty, and purpose. Sometimes there is no one, simple or easy answer when approaching a space. However, interior designers know how to approach these problems and figure out the solutions that best suits the space.

Residential design is highly personal and individualistic. If you know what you want, or even if you don’t, I will work with you to understand your sense of style, develop a concept, budget, work schedule and build your trust that I will create an amazing space for you to live in.

MY DESIGN PROCESS

STEP ONE: CONSULTATION

The consultation will most likely happen in the space you want to transform. I’ll get to know the vision you have for your space, determine your likes and dislikes, get an understanding of your own personal style, and measure the space to prepare the design plan. You can get to know more about my background and design process. At this point, we will also discuss a budget and timeline for the project.

STEP TWO: PROPOSAL

Based on the consultation, I will write a project specific proposal which will outline the following:

Scope of Work: This will include the goals we are trying to accomplish and the design work needed to achieve these goals.

Project Timeline: This will be a breakdown of project phases, identification of the major design deliverables and when we should expect to achieve them, as well as a breakdown of the design hours anticipated to complete the project at each phase.

Fee Structure & Schedule: I will outline and breakdown the fee structure and cost of services for the project based on the budget set out during the consultation and the projected hours outlined in the timeline. I will also set out a payment schedule based on the project timeline.

The proposal will be presented to you, and once the terms are agreed upon and the initial deposit is paid, the process will move forward to steps 3-7.

STEP THREE: CONCEPT DESIGN

This is where we put the scope of work into action. The concept design is meant to clarify the design direction and will include initial layouts and floor plans and firm up your ideas for your space.

STEP FOUR: DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Based on the concept design, the design is developed into more detailed, technical drawings of your space. I will source and provide quotes for specific materials and finishes. You can be involved as you want at this stage. Some clients prefer to do the sourcing with me and others prefer I bring them the options to finalize.

STEP FIVE: FINAL DESIGN

Once the design drawings and finishes are approved, I will provide a final design and then we will proceed to construction, and ordering and purchasing materials.

STEP SIX: PROJECT PROGRESSION

During this stage, the design on paper begins to materialize and come to life in your space. Construction will commence, and fixtures and materials will begin to arrive. In accordance to our contractual agreement, I will move more fully into the role of project manager to oversee the rest of the project or you could assume this role if you would prefer.

STEP SEVEN: PROJECT COMPLETION

At this stage, final details are sorted out. The construction is now finished. Fixtures are installed and furniture is in place. This phase is ensuring the work is completed as discussed and that you are happy with the end result. After everything is done, the design is now a reality and you are left to enjoy and use your space!
